WAE seeks Academy Interns

Job Title: INTERN

Purpose of Role

Interns join the company on our 12-week Academy programme, which enables them to learn about and utilise various tools and techniques that are reflective of WAE processes. The programme involves working on a variety of exciting internal and client projects and gaining experience of the methodologies our practitioners use everyday. Interns are supported by colleagues and a selection of training materials. They may get the opportunity to work on paid client projects, develop their practitioner skills and support the delivery of assignments.


Develop a practical understanding of all specialisms across the business, undertaking work wherever possible, in order to develop awareness of WAE service offering and business proposition

  • Gain understanding of WAE’s service offering, proposition, the company’s project management methodology and project finances
  • Develop knowledge of clients and key personnel, and able to represent the company at client meetings
  • Confidently present findings, recommendations and deliverables to internal colleagues and stakeholders
  • Deliver specialist outputs in line with project / client requirements, seeking advice from seniors as required, whilst ensuring the highest quality of work produced in all instances
  • Operate as a ‘Digital Producer’ on small / medium projects with support from project lead. Raise project risks and issues with project lead as they arise


Recent graduate in Industrial / User Centred / User Experience Design / Similar, or currently going through a career change and looking for an introduction into Service Design and CX in a commercial setting

  • Have a genuine passion for Service Design and for being consultative
  • Comfortable outside your comfort zone and ‘being thrown in the deep end’
  • Collaborative by nature and work well in a fast-paced, dynamic, deadline-driven environment
  • Enjoy working on multiple projects
  • Possess exceptional research, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Confident presenter, capable of clear and concise verbal communication
  • Excited by change and challenging the status quo
  • Have a relentless attention to detail and ‘can do’ attitude. You are a motivated and an organised person, a ‘self-starter’ with the ability to work independently
  • Capable of building strong relationships with clients, potential clients and colleagues
